Related Research Interests

Emily Rosado-Solomon is an Assistant Professor of Management at Babson College. She has two primary streams of research; in her first stream of research, she investigates interpersonal connections in the workplace. Her focus in this domain is primarily on communicative acts between employees, such as small talk, and the impact of these seemingly trivial interactions on substantive outcomes of interest. Emily’s second stream of research focuses on mental health and mental illness in the workplace. She is broadly interested in understanding how features of work and interpersonal connections can have both positive and negative effects on employees’ mental health, especially for employees with chronic mental illness. With this focus, she is interested in the ways that colleagues react to people with mental illness, and the role of social support from managers and coworkers in promoting employees’ mental health at work.
