Related Research Interests

Since the late 1980s I have been particularly interested in relationships between academics and practitioners.  My interest in such relationships, in their contents and processes, has expanded over time.  This interest and its expansion through the years are indicated in my co-development of insider/outsider team research (Bartunek & Louis, 1996; Albert & Bartunek, 2016) and several studies in which this approach has been implemented, my work with Sara Rynes and others on knowledge transfer between academics and practitioners (Rynes, Bartunek & Daft, 2001) how implications for practice in scholarly articles are written (Bartunek & Rynes, 2010) and how academics and practitioners are both alike and unlike (Bartunek & Rynes, 2014; Crosina & Bartunek, 2017). This interest is also reflected in my development of a “relational scholarship of integration” (Bartunek, 2007), in my work on translating academic articles for practitioner settings (Ren & Bartunek 2020). Finally, it is reflected in my edited book with Jane McKenzie on Academic-Practitioner Relationships, and in my work on the impact of scholarship on practice (Macintosh et al., 2017; Macintosh, Mason, Beech & Bartunek, 2022.
