Research Related Interests
My work is inspired by several years working in a Canadian charitable organization that provided safe haven to women and children fleeing domestic violence, first in an administrative capacity and then on the front lines. Although this work felt deeply meaningful, it was also traumatic and ultimately personally unsustainable. Ever since, I have been passionate about understanding how and why people in pro-social occupations experience and navigate experiences like distress, trauma, and compassion fatigue, and how organizations can better support them.
