Research Related Interests

My research interests: Meaningful and Pro-Social Work; Psychological Distress and Trauma; Interpersonal Connections; Work-Life Conflict. My work is inspired by several years working in a Canadian charitable organization that provided safe haven to women and children fleeing domestic violence, first in an administrative capacity and then on the front lines. Although this work felt deeply meaningful, it was also traumatic and ultimately personally unsustainable. Ever since, I have been passionate about understanding how and why people in pro-social occupations experience and navigate experiences like distress, trauma, and compassion fatigue, and how organizations can better support them.

Outside of my academic pursuits, I am also an artist and an art enthusiast! I especially enjoy surrealism (e.g., Dali, Beksinski) and neo-expressionism (e.g., Basquiat, Baselitz), while my own creative practice centers on abstract painting that allows me to experiment with texture and vibrant color, with the aim of creating work that evokes emotion (at least in myself!)
