Inge De Clippeleer is an Associate professor in Organizational Behavior and Leadership and Head of Faculty for Management and Humanities at EDHEC Business School. Her research is situated in the domain of job crafting, collaborative/ team crafting, and work meaningfulness. In her latest research project, she investigates the prevalence and desirability of job crafting as a strategy for employees to maintain or regain meaningfulness in today’s increasingly precarious work arrangements. Specifically, drawing on social identity theory and sensemaking theory, it is argued that job crafting, as a form of identity work, allows employees to (re)gain work meaningfulness, by helping them fulfill their self-oriented need for uniqueness and other-oriented need for belonging.
