Related Research Interests
My research interests broadly focus on voice, or speaking up within the workplace. Specifically, I explore how and why employees choose to share their ideas or concerns, and the consequences (for the employee, their supervisor, or the organization) once they have spoken up. However, an underlying theme of this work involves relationships, particularly how relationships are enhanced, or sometimes strained, when employees voice. Further, I consider how relationships can serve as a mechanism for transmitting voice, not only upward within an organization, but also laterally through teams or across departments. In addition to my research interests in relationships, I have also been an organizer for the PRW professional development workshop at the Academy of Management meetings.
